Project Description
Structural engineering design for an all new cold-rolling facility located in Calvert, Alabama. The cold-rolling facility consists of a coupled pickling/ tandem mill capable of producing 2.5 million tons of cold strip a year, plus a continuous pickling line with a skin pass mill and a slitting line. Facility is part of a $11.8 billion expansion into the North and South American Markets. A 3500-acre carbon and stainless-steel processing complex which includes a melt shop, hot strip mill, cold rolling mill, continuous galvanizing line and continuous annealing line with a capacity of producing over 5 million tons of steel per year.
Scope of Work
Includes complete design for the following:
Structural steel framing for all new mill buildings and coil storage buildings with multiple EOT cranes in each.
Foundations for all mill buildings and all equipment including all associated substructures, basements, and auxiliary facilities.
Over 1000 FT of heavily surcharged tunnels supporting multiple gantry cranes and coil carriers.
Facility is supported on over 15,000 auger cast piles.
