Project Description

This project consisted of This project consisted of field investigations, cost estimating, plan development and construction administration assistance for the repair and rehabilitation of ~13 miles of the I-294 Tri-State Tollway, which included 42 bridges, 5 retaining walls, and 12 Noise Walls, located in Lake and Cook County, and within the municipalities of Rosemont, Des Plaines, Park Ridge, and Glenview, IL.

Scope of Work 

HOH services consisted of the following:

  • Design of improvements for all Roadway Repairs/Rehabilitation including Dowel bar retrofits, Accelerated Class A Patching, Rapid Concrete Pavement Patching & Repair, Surficial Partial Depth Pavement Patching, Class D2 patching, including micro surfacing and patching on shoulders, for over 120 lane miles of highway.

  • Design of Improvements to 42 bridges, including rehabilitation of decks, beams, piers, abutments.

  • Inspection during the winter of all existing pavement, shoulders, retaining walls, noise walls, and bridges in the contract footprint to develop scope of improvements and verify Planning and Rehabilitation Report from ISTHA.

  • Complex 5 Stage Traffic Control plans, with 1, 2 and 3 lane closures for a 7-day week, and an 18 week compressed construction schedule.

  • Guardrail, drainage, and erosion control improvements.

  • Lighting and ITS Improvements.

  • Project achieved a SILVER INVEST Rating for Sustainability.

  • Construction administration assistance—Review of material submittals, RFI’s, and contractor clarifications.
