Project Description

This project was divided into two phases. The First Phase was a study to assess the actual performance of the dust collection system for the slag pots at the 4SP BOP SHOP and recommend improvements to increase the dust collection efficiency.

Scope of Work

HOH contracted with a local testing and balancing firm to measure the airflows and static pressures in the dust collection system at key points. Using this data, we performed calculations to compare the effectiveness of different modifications to the existing dust collection hood to improve its efficiency. We then prepared drawings and a report to illustrate our findings and present them to CLIFFS Engineering so they could select an alternative from one of several options presented.

The next phase after CLIFFS Engineering selected one alternative was preparation by HOH of construction documents suitable for bidding by a contractor to install the modifications.
