Pickling / Tandem Mill and Continuous Pickling Line

Description of Project:

Structural engineering design for an all new cold-rolling facility located in Calvert, Alabama. The cold-rolling facility consists of a coupled pickling / tandem mill capable of producing 2.5 million tons of cold strip a year, plus a continuous pickling line with a skin pass mill and a slitting line.

Scope of Work:

Includes complete design for the following:

  • Structural steel framing for all new mill buildings and coil storage buildings with multiple EOT cranes in each.
  • Foundations for all mill buildings and all equipment including all associated substructures, basements and auxiliary facilities.
  • Over 1000 FT of heavily surcharged tunnels supporting multiple gantry cranes and coil carriers.
  • Facility is supported on over 15,000 auger cast piles.

Value to Client:

Facility is part of a $11.8 billion expansion into the North and South American Markets.
